Hi, there! My name is Matt Vander Boegh - long time Nampa Idaho resident and professional music composer moonlighting as an adjunct communication professor at the College of Western Idaho.

At 44 years old, I’ve realized you’re never too old to reinvent yourself.

I created Daddy’s Popcorn during a period of intense bodybuilding training and dieting (ahem, midlife crisis alert!). You’ve heard the phrase “you always want what you can’t have”, right? Well, Daddy’s Popcorn was a result of this very thing.

I couldn’t eat anything decadent or delicious as I was prepping for physique competitions, and so my mind constantly wandered to thoughts of what I couldn’t eat. Popcorn was the thing I turned to that I could experiment with and create quickly, and I had a very willing taste-tester in my 8 year old daughter. Plus, if I wanted to try a bite myself I could limit my intake to just a few pieces - still more calories than I was supposed to have…. but who’s countingl?!

This experimentation with sweet and exotic popcorn flavors turned into the kernel (pun intended) of a business idea, and once I hung up the weight belt and competition shorts, I decided to pursue popcorn-making as not only a fun pasttime, but as a fully operational boutique business.

My daughter came up with the name “Daddy’s Popcorn”, and it instantly struck a chord with me, as it embodies the vision of the company and the fun products I strive to create. Thus, Daddy’s Popcorn was born!
